E-commerce Awards event leaves positive impression

Released: Tuesday, 5th October 2004

The awards are run on a regional basis, with prizes and places in the national final for winners in five different categories in each of the 12 regions, one of which is the East Midlands.

Sponsor of the awards in this region for 2004 was the East Midlands Development Agency, (emda) and it charged Diane Simpson of DSA Ltd with the organisation of a glittering awards ceremony.

Diane was quite clear about what was needed: "I was looking for a production company that had experience in managing and delivering award ceremonies and Quiet Storm was highly recommended by a number of public sector organisations," she explained.

The job was made particularly challenging by the fact that the e-commerce awards are judged on a national basis, which meant the East Midlands organisers were only aware of the finalists two weeks ahead of the ceremony.

Quiet Storm's role involved filming and editing each short listed company to create video introductions to the finalists in each category. QS also commissioned a scriptwriter and voiceover artist to complete the presentation.

"We wanted to make all finalists a part of the evening and by videoing them at work and providing a brief description of their business and its achievements we succeeded in doing that," Diane explained.

"The finalists told us after Quiet Storm had been to film that they had been put completely at their ease and in some cases the filming had really boosted morale."

"Quiet Storm worked in partnership with Trent A/V who managed the technology at the event and the results were fantastic. Everybody felt special on the evening and that meant we had achieved our goal. I have received messages from a number of the finalists to say how impressed they were," she concluded.
